  • Just to answer a few question I didn't know I had.

Tuning - My guitars neck, I have since found to be slightly out due to some heavy adjustments I made to the bridge etc so anything around the 11,12,13,14 mark on the low end strings is sounding a tiny bit off.

Solo Timing - I know, I was rocking and rock waits for noone! :)

Backing track - I went to ultimate-guitar.com and downloaded the Guitar Pro file for the song.

I then exported that into midi format and then imported that into Cubase 5.1 and set the drum track up to use a modified Addictive Drums plugin preset kit.

Cubase - 5.1 is the newest version and so probably the best,no problems with my setup. I have an i7 with 6 gig ram ,soundblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and Windows 7

Addictive Drums - I currently use this now with my V-Drums and bought the V-drums based on how fantastic Adddictive drums sounds. It truely is a astonishing piece of software.

Since I recorded this (which is pretty poor sound on this video compression) I have aquired a little skill in using Limiters to stop clipping.

I'm still searching for the tone as ever, maybe it's just not within my setups relms but I have changed how my stuff is cabled since and shall continue to work on it.

I have a Tremonti Wah which is exactly the kind of sound i've always wanted (this track was recorded with a rather weak integrated Boss GT-5 pedal)

Bass - Believe it or not thats me playing bass on my Les Paul.I put the guitar through a ring modulator set to -12 digery doos and bobs your aunt.IF you were to hear the bass on it's own you'd be very very disappointed as it only sounds half decent in certain fequencies. It was also a 2 take improv based around the root notes of the guitar line and a little imagination.

    Hope this helps.....

  • Very crisp and nice man!! The solos you seem to playing a biiit too early on the legato patterns and fast picking parts but your rhythm is REALLY good though.. Sounds great for the most part man!

  • Awesome job.  Where did you get the backing track with drums and bass?

  • Also, what version of Cubase would you recommend?

  • I've always wanted to be able to record with this kind of quality, but I can't figure it out for the life of me...
